Witch Walk Water Reflection

Image
This art photography image is call “Witch Walk” It’s part of the series On The Surface which is on my website www.geoffreybarisart.com My water reflection images are sometimes shot from docks or my little boat which I look for interesting reflections. When I find shapes or colors I like being reflected in the water I may shoot 50-100 images while the water and wind continue to change the shape of the reflection. Sometimes I circle my boat or rock it to shake up the water to change up the reflection. I later in the editing process find interesting shapes and forms and sometimes faces and figures. I don’t change the colors but will sometimes make them darker or lighter and more or less contrast. I have found, as the famous Dr Emoto has found with water crystals that the water seems to hold the energy of it’s surroundings. Very often in Mountain streams I find figures or faces that are primal and wild and in cites will find images reflective of the population around

This art photography image was shot in Malibu, CA. It’s called “The Wave” There’s some unique things about this image. It is a color image yet everything in the image is B & W. It was shot on a day the Santa Ana’s were blowing around 70 miles an hour. It had blown the sand and water all ruff causing the sun to shine in it’s ripples. When I print this image I usually print it on Kodak metalic paper which make the whites have a metal silver look. I like the strong diagonal composition and stark B&W look. I also like to Diasec mount or frame it which is where the print is face mounted to UV protected plexiglass and sandwiched with a thin piece of black sentra backing. Then a 1 inch wide   recessed frame is added to the back that floats the print off the wall giving a very contemporary borderless look.

One of my art photography images from San Miguel De Allende

This is one of my art photography images from San Miguel De Allende in Mexico. Titled Triptych 7” it can be found also on my website www.geoffreybarisart.com San Miguel is a 16 th century town that’s been kept historic. The town is famous for its cobble stone roads and brightly painted buildings, beautiful haciendas and churches. At one time a big percentage of the worlds gold was mined from the surrounding hills and hence the upscale town with it’s magnificent churches.   These are a collage of some of the painted walls in the old town. Besides the vibrant colors, I was intrigued with the relationships of colors and graphics. I photographed the connection of colors, where one color started and another finished. I found these colors and shapes to be very beautiful especially when combined as triptychs. This is the perfect image for a hospitality project and it's horizontal shape is perfect for above a hotel bed or any large space.I have many of these triptyc
